When to book

• Summer holidays: July and August are usually the most expensive months to fly from Germany to Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and the Gulf. Families usually get the best choice of flight times when they book by early spring.
• Autumn and Easter: shorter breaks, popular for Turkey, Egypt and the Canary Islands. Book a few months ahead, especially for direct flights from Dresden and Leipzig.
• Compare nearby airports. In 2027 Saxony starts its summer holidays later than Berlin and Brandenburg. Prices from Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin and Prague can differ a lot on the same day, so it pays to compare them.
• Check passports now. Children need their own passport, and many countries require it to be valid for 6 months after your trip. Renewals in Germany can take several weeks.
