Good to know before you travel to USA
- German citizens travel visa-free under the Visa Waiver Program for up to 90 days with an approved ESTA
- ESTA fee is USD 40.62 since 16 Oct 2026 and the ESTA is valid 2 years or until the passport expires
- Use only esta.cbp.dhs.gov or the official ESTA Mobile app; other sites charge extra
- Other passports need a B1/B2 visitor visa (USD 185) with an interview; customers living in Germany apply at the US Embassy Berlin or Consulates General Frankfurt or Munich
- Since 6 Sep 2025 visa applicants must generally apply in their country of nationality or legal residence
- US visa issuance to Afghan nationals has been suspended since 9 June 2025.
